January
2009
Logan
Todhunter ('08) appears in Sports Illustrated's "Faces
in the Crowd":
First
year Williams College swimmer Logan Todhunter (Ithaca,
NY) was unable to participate in the Ephs first swim meet
of the year at Connecticut College due to injury, but she
stirred up the home crowd with her collegiate debut vs. Division
I foes Boston College and Fordham University on December 6th.
Todhunter
impressed with two individual wins and two school records
as Williams downed both Boston College (176.5123.5)
and Fordham University (152-147) to improve to 3-0 on the
year.
Todhunter
posted first place finishes and school records in the 200-yard
butterfly and the 100-yard butterfly. Todhunter's record time
of 2:02.77 in the 200 was almost two full seconds faster than
the previous Williams best of 2:04.64 set last winter by Chrissy
Haley. In the 100-yard butterfly Todhunter was timed
in 56.05, which was 7/10 of a second faster than Zibby Stokes'
56.75 in 2000.
She also
swam the butterfly leg on the 200-yard IM relay won by the
Ephs in 1:47.41. For her stellar performance Todhunter
was selected to appear in this week's Sport's Illustrated
and also accorded NESCAC Swimmer of the week honors.
Todhunter
is the 24th Eph to appear in Faces in the Crowd since August
of 1989.
Against
archrival Amherst on January 10th, Todhunter lowered
both of her school records in winning the 100-yard butterfly
in 55.83 and the 200-yard mark to 2:01.94.
This
past weekend she helped the Ephs improve to 7-0 on the year,
win the Little Three title and she won three individual events,
none of which were butterfly events. Todhunter placed
first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.77), 200-yard backstroke
(2:12.67), 200-yard individual medley, and 200-yard medley
relay (1:50.51) alongside senior Courtney Asher, fellow freshman
Anna Szymanski, and junior Lisa Cucolo.
