The ITHACA AQUATICS
CLUB is a year-round United States of America Swimming, Inc. (USA)
Competitive Swimming Program established in 1968. The CLUBS
major goal is to have a commitment by the athlete and the family to
the TEAM concept of striving for excellence in ALL areas of their
life, Academically, Athletically, and Socially. With this commitment
by the family and the athlete, the CLUB is committed to helping each
athlete reach his or her goals as well as the TEAM goals set by the
athletes and coaches.
Swimming is a
basic development sport, and can develop the athlete for all other
sports. The cognitive skills developed through swimming can influence
academic learning in regular school. The physical development will
permit a person to remain active throughout their life, and to live
healthy longer.
The purpose
of the Ithaca Aquatics Club Competitive Swimming Program is to help
each athlete reach his or her goals, capabilities, and potentials
by:
Developing
strong cardiovascular (heart and lung), and muscular systems in
the body.
Increasing
physical skills of coordination and balance.
Utilizing
cognitive skills in conjunction with concentration and self-discipline.
Providing
a means for social skill development by working in cooperation
with others toward a common goal.
